The choice of vehicles for a 4WD overland trail is an important one that has to take in many factors - who will be driving them (obviously), reliability, ease of maintenance and comfort. We always insist that the jeeps be owned by the driver, as opposed to being drawn from an agency pool. This is for 2 reasons. One, the vehicles inevitably tend to be better maintained, and two, as a driver knows the quirks of his own vehicle, more often than not he can predict if there's going to be a problem, in which case stops for repairs can be made at the group's convenience rather than randomly along the roadside.
For our treks we believe that expedition-grade equipment is a must, as staying warm and dry, and eating well, are fundamentals on any trip, and since some of our treks pass through some very unforgiving country, name-brand imported gear is not a luxury but a necessity. On our treks we provide all camping equipment necessary with the exception of sleeping bags, which are somewhat personal! However, we recommend 4+ season grade bags for these chilly nights. For tents we use Moss & Northface. Cooking equipment is generally Primus and MSR, while camping equipment is from REI and the like.
